The Tomodachi Japan Scholarship starts from one worldwide list price, then automatically applies a discount based on the country your family lives in. So that a child anywhere in the world can become friends with kids their own age in Japan.

The classes are the same wherever you are in the world, so we begin from a single, honest list price.

A scholarship matched to everyday life in your country or region is applied for you, automatically.

Your regional scholarship is applied automatically, which is what brings the monthly fee within reach. Classes of eight with a homeroom teacher, and around 100 live sessions a month to choose from — join every day if your child wants to, for the same flat fee. The exact tuition, your scholarship rate and the opening schedule are gathered in the school guide, sent to everyone who registers (free, 1 minute).

Every day starts with arriving at school and saying good morning. And when class ends, there is still somewhere to be.

Conversation-first lessons, and your child picks the ones they want. Attend as often as they like.

Students of NIJIN Academy (over 1,000 enrolled to date), as friends rather than practice partners. Clubs are open to join too.
Support for parents, in easy Japanese or in English, is part of the flat fee as well.

Scholarship and payment, answered.
Do we need to apply for the scholarship?
No. There is no application form and no income statement to submit. The scholarship price is applied automatically, based on the country or region your family lives in when you enrol.
How is our price decided?
By where your family lives right now. Nationality, passport and family registration are not part of it. We start from one worldwide list price and subtract the scholarship for your region — what remains is the price for where you live.
We live outside Japan. Is the price the same as in Japan?
No. A scholarship price matched to the cost of everyday life in your country or region is applied automatically, so some countries come out higher than Japan and others lower. The figure for your country is in the school guide, and we are happy to walk through it with you one to one.
If we move abroad, does our price change?
We review it at your next renewal so it matches your new home. Nothing changes suddenly in the middle of a term. And if you move back to Japan or relocate to another country, your child simply keeps going with the same class and the same teacher.
Are there sibling discounts, and how do we pay?
Yes, there is a sibling discount — the details are in the school guide. Payment is by credit card or bank transfer, and local payment methods are being added country by country. The enrolment fee is waived for the founding class, for applications received by 31 March 2027.
